Τhe scope is to foster a profound comparison between different approaches to nonequilibrium thermodynamics, to unify existing ones, to identify challenges and possibly concert research efforts, a series of workshops. Nonequilibrium thermodynamics aims at understanding and describing the dynamics of out-of-equilibrium systems, particularly also the relaxation towards equilibrium. Contrary to classical equilibrium thermodynamics, nonequilibrium thermodynamics has been in the past decades and still is a vibrant field of research with substantial challenges that await to be solved.
